Tree planting on your land

The NECF team is here to help landowners and land agents develop tree planting and woodland creation projects across the North East. Our support is free, and our Community Woodland Officers can guide you from an early idea right through to planting on the ground.

Once you get in touch through our online form, we’ll arrange a site visit to understand your land, your aims, and what’s possible. From there, we’ll support you through each stage of the process – planning, design, funding options, and delivery.

Where needed, we can draw on expertise from across the wider NECF partnership to provide specialist advice. We may also be able to signpost additional funding and help connect you with local volunteers.

Trees for Climate

A flexible woodland creation grant for Community Forests

Trees for Climate is a UK Government‑funded woodland creation programme available exclusively within England’s Community Forest areas. Delivered through the North East Community Forest, it supports the creation of new woodlands and tree planting projects that help tackle climate change, support nature recovery and benefit local communities.

The programme offers one of the most flexible and competitive tree planting grants available, enabling well‑designed projects that deliver long‑term environmental and community benefits.
