To support the implementation of the Forest Plan, the Forest Partnership in March 2026 approved a five-year Delivery Plan to guide activity over the next 5 years. The plan includes:
The Action Plan defines delivery priorities, targets, and key activities to guide tree planting, woodland creation, community engagement, volunteering and education.
It includes:
- Funding and delivery programmes
- Specific actions and measurable targets
- Alignment with the Forest Plan’s vision and objectives
The Business Plan sets out the operational and financial framework that enables effective delivery. It covers:
- Resource requirements, staffing and delivery capacity
- Financial planning and budgeting
- Plans to strengthen financial resilience
This plan explains how NECF engages partners, communities, landowners, schools and stakeholders to support delivery.
It provides:
- Clear audiences, channels and consistent messaging
- Promotion of volunteering, events and education opportunities
- Digital updates, press activity and shared partner communications
- Inclusive engagement to build awareness, confidence and participation
This ensures people are informed, involved and able to shape and benefit from the Forest.
How we monitor progress
The Delivery Plan will be refreshed every five years to ensure it remains aligned to funding opportunities, up to date evidence and local priorities. Progress is monitored quarterly through the NECF Partnership, and reported each year via the NECF Annual Report.
