Apply for 'Trees for Climate' funding
Are you looking to breathe new life into your school grounds while inspiring the next generation of environmental champions? We are thrilled to be able to invite schools across Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland, and parts of County Durham to apply for our ‘Trees for Climate’ grant.
Whether you want to plant a vibrant wildlife hedge to block out road noise, design a thriving orchard, or establish a brand-new mini woodland for outdoor learning, this is your opportunity to create a lasting green legacy.
Check if you are based within our boundaryWhat does the grant offer?
We know how busy school staff are, which is why this grant is designed to be as flexible and stress-free as possible. Eligible projects can receive up to 100% funding to cover all capital costs, alongside ongoing maintenance payments to ensure your trees truly thrive.
We can provide the trees and the protective equipment. Our team will guide you through the process, providing free design and planning advice, and we can even connect you with contractors to assist with planting days.
Why get involved?
Bringing trees and hedges onto your school grounds does so much more than just improve the landscape. It creates hands-on educational spaces where pupils can watch their trees grow throughout their school years, directly engaging them in the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss.
Beyond the curriculum, increased greenery is proven to boost student health and wellbeing, provide essential shade during hot weather, and create vibrant new habitats for local wildlife.
Interested?
You don’t need a huge campus to apply; our minimum project area starts at just 0.1 hectares (which can equal a 100-metre hedgerow or a small cluster of trees). All we need from you is the permission to plant, space to grow, and an enthusiastic group of young volunteers!
