Driving change together
The North East Community Forest is growing thanks to contributions from the amazing individuals, businesses and organisations who share our vision for a greener, healthier North East. This support helps create new woodlands, tackle climate change, boost biodiversity, and improve wellbeing across our communities.

Making a donation
Every donation makes a difference:
- £5 plants a sapling or hedgerow tree
- £100 plants a standard-size tree in a street or green space
Why support us?
Supporting us is a powerful way to make a difference. Your support helps:
- Plant and look after trees and hedgerows
- Fight climate change and the biodiversity crisis
- Create positive stories for your community or business
How you can support us
Whether you’re an individual or a business, every contribution counts. If you would like to contribute financially, every donation is matched by government funding through the Trees for Climate programme, so every pound goes further.
- As an individual: Donate any amount and help us grow a greener North East.
- As a business: We suggest a minimum donation of £250, but every contribution, big or small, makes a difference.
Choosing where your trees go
You can support tree planting across the whole community forest, or ask us to focus your contribution in one of our six local authority areas. We can’t link donations to individual trees or guarantee the exact spot they’ll be planted, but we always plant in the places that need them most.
If you’d like to back a particular project, you can look at the woodland creation schemes on the North East Combined Authority Carbon & Nature Marketplace. These let you choose a project to support, but not specific trees or precise locations.
North East Combined Authority Carbon & Nature Marketplace
An online platform showcasing a range of environmental projects across the region
The Carbon & Nature Marketplace highlights regional climate and nature initiatives, including several delivered by the North East Community Forest. Each project page provides clear information about the site, its benefits, and how contributions support local nature recovery.
You can browse current NECF woodland creation and habitat projects on the Marketplace to find a location that aligns with your interests. Type North East Community Forest into the search bar.
